Ryan Paul Johnson presents Turning 20: A Hilarious Reflection on Learning to Live and Love Life With a Disability.

In 1999, at the age of 18, Ryan’s life was forever changed when he was paralyzed from the neck down in a snowboarding accident. The doctors thought he would die due to complications from the fall. If he lived, they we’re certain he’d never walk again. Not only did he survive, through hard work and determination, Ryan regained much of what he lost in the crash.

In 2014, after more than a decade of pestering, Ryan agreed to try water skiing through an adaptive water-sports program. “It took me a really long time to say yes because I was scared to death of getting hurt again!” explains Ryan, “But, after that first ride, I was hooked!”

Spurred on by the exhilaration of water skiing, Ryan jumped headlong into a world he’d been dreaming about for years, Standup Comedy. He explains, “I figured, if I can water ski, I could definitely do Standup!” He was right! "Arizona Adaptive Water-Sports gave me the courage to pursue my dream. The least I can do is use that gift to give back.”
